Test Posting Schedule!

Hello everyone!

I know I've been gone for quite some time, and right after setting up the new review site! Unfortunately we had several family emergencies come up, and things have simply been hectic! At long last, I'm getting back on board with everything and playing catch up!

In doing this, I'm going to be test running some posting schedules to see what works best!

New posts can be found here on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays! Some of these posts will be indie book reviews, but when I need fillers I'll be doing general reviews from other books I've been reading, or at least spotlighting said books!

Expect plenty to come, though, as I'm on a 300 book challenge by the end of 2014, and I'm about nine books in!

Read on, followers!

Kiss at Dawn by Margarita Felices Review

Hello everyone! Due to a family emergency, I am out of town, and do not have access to my usual technology. (Would you believe I'm currently typing this up from my cell phone? Believe it!) I will be adding the adornments to this post, such as the wonderful cover image and summary, later today. Please, bear with me during this time!

An ARC of this novel was provided for free to Serenity Ashley Reviews in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kiss at Dawn Review

If novels with a fast-pace and non-sparkly vampires are your thing, Kiss at Dawn was made just for you. This book added its own twist to a religion based story that most people are familiar with, making for an interesting plot lead right off the bat. While there is a bit of romantic element to the novel, there is so much more to it, and the novel does not rely on the romance to keep it going. This is quite the refreshing change of pace for novels including vampires in this day and age.
Another lovely change was seeing vampires not only go back to their roots, but for the story to be set in Cardiff gave the characters a little bit extra oomph that kept you hooked and interested in them. The leading lady, Rachel, is a fierce woman, well, vampire woman, and seeing a woman put back in a light where she can certainly handle her own is more of what I'd love to see in novels. Especially as of late.
There's so much that goes on in this novel, it's impossible to pinpoint or mention much without giving away anything! I highly recommend you try and get a copy as soon as possible, you do have a few more days before Christmas! Get yourself the gift of a terrific read, you've earned it.

Effie's Outlaw by Karen Lopp

Boston heiress Effie Sheridan takes matters into her own hands when her fortune is being stolen. The last thing she expects is to be kidnapped by a gang of train robbers. Forced to pretend to be an outlaw's lover to stay alive, she questions her sanity when she is drawn to the gruff, yet charming bandit who risks everything to save her.
U.S. Deputy Alex Marshall is mad enough to spit nails when the beautiful, city-bred girl lands in his arms. Unable to abandon her to the cruelties of the gang, he searches for a way out of the responsibility. But her courage and sweet kisses begin to chip away at the bitterness inside his heart and he must choose between revenge on the gang that slaughtered everyone he loved or redemption for saving a woman he can never have.

A Review of Effie's Outlaw

Effie's Outlaw is everything that a western romance should be. When I started the novel I anticipated that we would see much more of Effie's backstroy to begin with, as can be typical when you read novels that the main character comes from upper class. I was wonderfully surprised that instead of sticking to this line of story telling, Lopp gave us a very brief bit, and launched straight into an action-packed novel.
From the beginning of the novel you're already told one of the major twists to the story (even if it's in the beginning, I'm not sharing here), and though the facts are revealed at the beginning, Lopp still weaves an intricate story based around a gang of outlaws that the leading male of the novel, Alex or "Lefty," is a part of.
The story becomes so much more than just the typical western romance; the characters are well developed, and the novel pulls you along at a rapid pace. Before I knew it I was already finishing, and desperately hoping that the story will continue in some form!
I highly recommend this novel to any lover of romance, and even to those who simply love a grand adventure.

About the Author, Karen Lopp

Steeped in a rich family history, Karen Lopp has always been drawn to the courageous lives of the women who lived through the hardships of the past and triumphed.
A transplant from Oklahoma where she grew up on a farm just one mile away from where her great-grandparents settled in the land run, Karen now lives in the enchanted land of New Mexico and has a running competition with her dad on who can grow the tallest hollyhocks. Books and tales of ancestors were staples in her life and she fell in love with history. Enthralled with the short stories her grandmother wrote and passed down, she took the plunge (with encouragement from hubby and kids) into the world of writing. And is now hooked. Her inspiration comes from research into her family tree and their interesting lives.
